  • A confused wild male elephant, who got separated from his herd, chases people on a road as he crosses a highway on the outskirts of Gauhati, India, on August 20, 2015. The herd of wild elephants was coming down from a nearby hill of India’s northeastern state of Meghalaya on the outskirts of Gauhati, the capital of Assam state. As the pressure of population growth pushes human habitation closer to forests, incidents of wild animals straying into cities are increasingly reported. No incident involving the wild elephant was reported.
