◈ 미국 TIME지 선정 세계 10대 불가사의 건축물 ◈ 1위, 피사의 사탑 (Leaning Tower of Pisa) 피사 대성당 동쪽에 있다. 흰 대리석으로 된 둥근 원통형 8층탑으로 최대 높이는 58.36m이며 무게는 1만 4453t으로 추정된다 . 2008년 현재 기울기의 각도는 중심축으로부터 약 5.5˚이다 . 294개의 나선형 계단으로 꼭대기까지 연결된다 . 1173년 착공되어 1372년까지 3차례에 걸쳐 약 200년 동안 공사가 진행되었는데 , 1차 공사 이후 지반 토질의 불균형으로 인한 기울어짐이 발견되었다 . 그 뒤 10년에 걸쳐 보수작업을 진행한 결과로 기울어짐 현상은 5.5˚에서 멈춘 상태이다.

2위, 캐피탈 게이트 (Capital Gate) 세계에서 가장 기울어진 인공탑 (World's Furthest Leaning Manmade Tower)"으로 최근 기네스북에 등재된 아랍에미리트의 수도 아부다비에 있다 . 35층 높이의 캐피탈 게이트 빌딩은 경사도가 18도에 달해 피사의 사탑보다 기울기가 훨씬 크다 .

3위, 워조크 아파트( Wozoco Apartment) 색상 서랍장을 연상시키는 네덜란드 암스테르담 소재 워조코 (Wozoco)아파트로 이 건축물은 네덜란드의 유명한 건축사무소 MVRDV가 1997년에 설계했다 . 특히 불규칙적으로 튀어나온 형형색색의 발코니는 마치 공중에 떠 있는 집에 사는 것 같은 느낌이다 . 이런 독특한 구조로 인해 거주자는 공중에 떠 있는 집에 사는 느낌을 갖게 된다 . 때문에 일반 경직되어 있는 아파트 주민들로부터 부러움의 대상이 될 수밖에 없다 .

4위 메테오라 수도원( Meteora) 메테오라는 그리스어로 "공중에 떠 있다 "는 뜻이다 . 황량한 벌판에 솟아오른 기묘한 바위기둥 꼭대기에 위태롭게 들어 선 수도원들을 보면 이곳이 왜 메테오라인지 저절로 깨닫게 된다 . 바위들의 평균 높이는 300m, 가장 높은 것은 550m나 되니 수도원들은 정말로 공중에 떠 있는 모습이다 .

5위, 푸에르타 데 유로파 공식 명칭은 '푸에르토 데 유로파 (Puerta de Europa)'로 '유럽의 관문 '이라는 의미이다 . 27층의 건물 2동이 도로를 사이에 두고 비스듬히 기울어져 사다리꼴 형태의 공간을 만들어내는 모습이 매우 독특하다 . 키오타워스는 건축을 맡은 기업의 이름에서 따왔다 . 건축가 필립 존슨과 뉴욕의 AT&T타워 설계로 유명한 존슨 버지가 사무실 공간으로 설계하였다 .

6위, 어부의 집 러시아 북서부의 안창겔 지방에 있는 '어부의 집 '으로 1992년 사업가 출신의 니콜라이 페트로비치 수티야긴이 직접 만든 목조건물이다 . 이 건물은 13층 높이로 세계에서 가장 높은 목조 건물이라고 타임은 소개했다 . 이 건물은 건축법령 (소방법 )을 준수하지 않았다는 이유로 2009년 2월 1일까지 철거명령을 받아 , 1차로 2008년 12월 26일 상부 탑이 철거되었고 , 몇 달 내로 모두 철거하라는 법원 명령을 받았다는군요 . 역사 속으로 사라진 건축물이네요 .

7위, 아스트라 양조장 독일 함부르크의 유명 맥주회사인 아스트라의 양조장 건물이 뽑혔다 .

9위, 리히텐슈타인 성(Schlocs Liechtenstein) 수도 파두츠는 스위스 국경 부근 라인강 동쪽에 있다 . 16세기 요제프 2세가 세운 고성 (古城 )에 오르면 시가지가 한눈에 내려다보인다 . 1840년 빌헬름 백작에 의해 개축된 독일의 리히텐슈타인 성 .

10위, 현공사 (쉬안쿵사 : Xuan Kong si) 중국 산시성 최북단은 네이멍구 ( 內蒙古 ) 자치구와 닿아 있는 다퉁 (大同 )시인데 , 현공사 (懸空寺 )를 보듬은 항산 (恒山 해발 2천 16m)은 다퉁시를 구성하는 여러 하위 행정구역 중 하나인 훈유앤 (渾源 )현에 있다 . 항산은 중국사에서 대단히 중요한 위치를 점하고 있다 . 모든 산 중에서도 가장 신성시된 다섯 곳을 골라 5악 (五嶽 )이라고 했는데 , 거기에 속한다 . 동서로 길게 150㎞를 뻗친 항산을 대표하는 문화유산인 현공사 (懸空寺 )는 그 모습이 마치 비취색 병풍 같다 해서 '취병산 '(翠屛山 )이라고 일컫는 한 봉우리에 형성된 단애의 중턱에 자리 잡고 있다 . 겸지의 제자 이교 (李皎 )가 북위 태화 (太和 ) 15년 (491)에 건립한 것이 현공사이다 . 현재의 현공사 (懸空寺 )에는 불상 외에도 각종 도상 (道像 )이 함께 안치돼 있다 .

Two nights ago, as the stroke of midnight rolled across the world's time zones, people gathered in private and took to the streets to celebrate the arrival of the New Year, 2015. Fireworks erupted from Auckland to Rome, and revelers gathered in Chongqing, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, New York, and thousands of other places, raising a glass, keeping warm, making resolutions, and wishing each other a "Happy New Year!"
